Weather and ClimateYishi is in the foothills east of the coastal plain, and thus offers a less extreme climate than either Jerusalem or the coastal cities. Although hot in the summer, it is generally 5-8 degrees F cooler than Ashdod or Rechovot on the coast, and it never snows or freezes here as it does every few years in Jerusalem and the higher elevations. Roughly 9 months of the year are comfortable with no heating or air conditioning. For most of the year, a sea breeze blows across Yishi every afternoon. The soil in Yishi is mostly red clay. Many crops and varieties of fruit trees do very well in the area, and the region is known for its many successful vineyards.
